ACER joins the 64-bit revolution

Every single day, we see a phone maker switch to the new 64 bit architecture, and now, ACER, has made their first 64-bit device official. Say hello to Acer Liquid Jade S. The Jade S is essentially the successor to the Liquid Jade, and by successor , I mean just an uograded version. The phone will feature the dual sim feature and run on the 64 bit architecture.
What else does the Jade S have in its arsenal?

lets take a look-

  • We have a 5 inch 720p IPS HD display.
  • It will run on the 1.5GHz octa core Mediatek MT6752M processor.
  • It will boot Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box
  • 2GB RAM
  • !6 GB of expandable memory
  • 13MP main camera
  • 2300 mAh battery
These are again the specs announced by Acer, and we will only come to know the full spec list just before the launch or on December 18th, when it is officially launched in Taiwan.
These specs however, strongly indicate that the Jade S is a midranger, and what worries me the most are two things
  • Acer has not declared the Front cam rating. Hope they have not omitted the front cam altogether, which will spell instant doom for this phone.
  • This phone seems to lack the firepower of the others in its competition.
All in all, the Jade S looks like another valiant attempt by Acer to burst into the cellphone limelight, but with Big shots like Samsung , LG, HTC, Xiaomi, Huawei and Sony ruling the show, looks like they have bitten more than they can chew.
